Trading Card Paper Choices

A lot of people wonder where can I buy that really hard paper to make trading cards?  There's no single correct answer to this question, especially for those trying to print trading cards from home computers. When you buy commercial cards at your local comic book store or hobby shop, you'll notice the thick trading card paper stock right away. The reason why the paper feels thick and hard is because the sheet consists of multiple layers of thin material. You can buy heavy duty cardstock at craft or hobby stores, but your consumer grade printer might not be able to process this type of artist surface. For the best quality, we recommend using professional trading card paper.

Here's what we offer as paper stock for custom trading card jobs:

14 pt Glossy Cardstock (UV) Front Only – Our 14 pt. cardstock features the thickness to make your cards durable with a shiny glossy coat on one side. This is our cheapest option, which will work fine for single sided designs and artwork.

14 pt Glossy Cardstock (UV Both Sides) – Double sided glossy coating on 14 pt. cardstock is a bit more expensive, but the price difference is negligible because of our trading card printing prices are very low. If you have a two sided card design, this will make both sides look their best.

14 pt Cardstock Satin/Dull Finish – The ever popular matte finish gives cards a subtler appearance than the typical shiny surface. Since so many card games use the glossy coating, going matte may help a new game stand out in the startup marketing stages.

Premium Trading Card Paper Option

The above cardstocks and finishes are all industry standards. You can't go wrong with 14 pt. cardstock, but some clients want to create their own trading cards with a truly distinct design. When money is no object, get a custom quote and we'll do our best to fulfill your print project specs. In the meantime, here's a taste of what the extra cash can get for your cards.

100 lb. Textured Linen Paper – The key word would be textured because fine linen trading card paper feels noticeably different than typical 14 point cardstock. Linen paper delivers smoothness along with an unmistakable classy vibe. Linen is a good choice for creative artists, trading card style business cards, and agencies that cater to high end clientele.
