5 Touching Canvas Print Ideas for Your Valentine

I’ve got some bad news to share with you. I’m not sure how to say it, so I’ll just blurt it out.

You won’t find the perfect Valentine’s Day gift in any store.

Bummer, right? Here you thought you could just swing by the mall (girls) or maybe hit up the guy on the street corner for a cheap bouquet and call it a day (guys). Of course you can take your chances with these time honored tactics; however, I have a much better solution that you and your sweetheart are going to love—canvas prints!

I’m speaking from personal experience because I gave my mom an artist’s canvas for Christmas. She went absolutely nuts over her present, so I’m confident you’ll get a similar reaction from your special someone. My mixed media design started out as a photo that I turned into a pop art piece with Photoshop. I’m mentioning my production methods because I want you to know that this product isn’t just for photographs. You can print any piece of art (analog or digital) to make your own custom pieces.

Designers, I’m talking to you. Canvas opens up a whole new world for your typographic posters, illustrations, and personal branding.

Quick Guide to Canvas Photo Printing

Before we get to the awesome examples, I want to make sure we go over the basics so you get the quality you’re after. Here are the 3 things you need to do before you send a file:

  1. Check your image resolution- Your artwork should be at least 300 dpi (hi res). That’s fancy print speak for “Instagram photos make our press machine cry.”
  2. Convert to CMYK- You may not be able to do this easily without graphics software. We can change your color mode for you, but please be aware that the image may look different afterwards.
  3. Give us Bleed, Baby- Every print product, including canvas, needs a proper bleed. In this case, we don’t need the bleed to cover the edges per say. We need it so there’s something to wrap around the mounted sides of your artwork.
