Catalog printing is a primary method to increase sales and maximize profit. Marketing research shows that people of all ages enjoy reading catalogs. Reader demographics are important. If you are trying to appeal to the average consumer, including text and graphics that appeal to them. For B2B sales, the language can be more technical in nature.
Catalog printing with PrintfFirm is fast, easy, and inexpensive. We print our catalogs on 100 lb. gloss text paper, giving it a professional appearance. Cover options for catalog printing include 14-point card stock with a shiny UV coating or a non-UV coating for more of a matte finish. If you want to save a little money or if the total weight of the catalogs is a concern, you have the option of "self-cover", which uses the 100 lb. gloss text paper for the cover. There are four standard sizes to choose from, but you can request any size you want. Next day turnaround for catalog printing is available in case you need the catalog immediately.
PrintFirm offers the following catalog printing cover options:
Saddle Stitching: Stapling through the centerfold, also called saddle-stitching, joins a set of nested folios into a single catalog issue.
Perfect Binding: This gives a result similar to a paperback book. Typically, the cover is made from thicker paper than the pages. We glue the pages together at the spine with strong, flexible glue.
Wire Binding: This is a popular commercial bookbinding method. Catalogs that are bound with wire binding will open completely flat on a desk, allowing for 360-degree rotation of pages.
The cover is probably the most important design item for catalog printing. An attractive full color cover will result in greater catalog retention.
Be certain that all of your catalog printing images that you upload to PrintFirm have a resolution of at least 300 DPI (dots per inch). Lower resolutions may look fine on your computer screen, but once they are printed out, the result is typically a blurry mess. Use caution when downloading images found on the internet because they are generally low resolution. To check the DPI measure for an image, open the file in a reputable graphics program and make a note of the file details.
For product catalogs, use well-written product descriptions. These should be short but informative. Avoid crowding too many products together on one page. This looks unprofessional and distracts the reader. Product photos should be large, giving the potential customer a better idea of product appearance.
